Abstract

The paper gives an implementation paradigm for real-time systems developed using a data flow method. It aims to provide a simple and coherent approach for producing designs that can be converted into a high-level language on target platforms with a suitable scheduling algorithm and concurrent programming primitives. A simple target machine is proposed in order that the model is widely applicable. A specific interpretation of the data flow diagram (DFD) model is developed, the notation is extended and a process diagram (PD) is introduced. VAXELN is identified as a suitable target system, and VAXELN Pascal is used to illustrate the given examples.
