Dealing with Disaffection: Young People, Mentoring and Social Inclusion

Research output: Contribution to journalBook/Film/Article reviewpeer-review

Abstract

On the surface, this book provides a critical evaluation of the ideas and practices behind mentoring as a popular intervention when dealing with young people and the diffi culties which they may face throughout their transition into adulthood in an uncertain world. The underlying message, however, which runs throughout the book is the need to address the lack of evidencebased practice that informs policy. The authors suggest that this has a major role to play in the effective delivery of mentoring-based programmes as well as programmes dealing with the “ disaffection of youth ”.
