    Abstract

This paper evaluates the implementation of a productivity and planning improvement project in a German Medical Technology (MT) OEM. Although innovative and fast-growing, this sector faces immediate competition from emerging markets such as China. Using an action research approach and focusing on employing decision-making criteria in the adoption of improved product delivery strategies, this study demonstrated the benefits of aligning product delivery strategies with sector-specific decision-making criteria. Applying the decision-making criteria to a case organisation resulted in an improvement in its customer relationship management strategy, its procurement strategy, and its production system.
