Abstract
The chapter considers Dario Argento's ground breaking 1975 giallo thriller Profondo Rosso/Deep Red in terms of its representations of art, architecture and design. It argues that the film's effectiveness is bound up with a highly developed sense of non-cinematic aesthetics and Italian cultural history.
