Abstract
The investigation into the correlation between tradition and innovation finds a rich domain to explore within the urban context. Cities and architectures serve as a reservoir of enduring symbols and materials, of histories and traditions, onto which new interventions are superimposed through a series of human actions and endeavors. This study delves into this dynamic relationship, focusing on the impact of Mart Stam’s work on Ernst May’s “New Frankfurt” and Le Corbusier’s reinterpretation of the courtyard building in his visionary urban concept for the “city of tomorrow.”
