Abstract

Centred on a concise discussion on the extant strategic management literature, this review aims to analyse the recent development in dynamic capabilities theory and competitive advantage, in relation to its existing debate, related to the two dominant logics of this field. The analysis accentuates that the works on dynamic capabilities are trending to recognise a simple or complex routine, associated with
the first and second order capabilities and bundle of resources, as a source of dynamic capabilities. From this context, this review provides a unique look to the trend of dynamic capabilities research, with respect to its existing debate.
