Abstract
A review of Barry Lopez' Horizon.
Barry Lopez – perhaps best known for Arctic Dreams, which has never been out of print since its first publication in 1986 – describes his new book, Horizon, as an “autobiographical reflection on many years of travel”. The journeys he recounts begin in his childhood and extend into his sixties, covering six main regions and more than seventy countries; we are taken from Cape Foulweather on the Oregon Coast to Ellesmere Island in the Canadian Arctic, the Galapagos Islands, Kenya’s Turkana uplands, Port Arthur in Tasmania and the mountains of Antarctica.
