Abstract

This opinion piece begins to debate the opportunities facing occupational therapists and the occupational therapy profession in the light of the current climate in health and social care. The immediate concerns about reductions in traditional occupational therapy posts are real; however, they also provide an opportunity to explore and embrace the potential for occupational therapy in many areas. By identifying the cultural context of potential clients, occupational therapists have much to offer in a range of environments to a diverse population. There is a need to embrace these opportunities and to step out of the box.
