Abstract

Microsystems and nanotechnology have enabled the measurement and manipulation of cells and biomolecules at single-cell and single-molecule levels. There are several methods that can be classified into contact-based and non-contact-based ones that have been demonstrated for cellular diagnostics and therapeutics. Originally developed for different applications, these methods reviewed here have been successfully applied for single-cell measurements with improved measurement resolution and dynamics to enable near-physiological condition measurements. Moreover, the reviewed methods have been used for single-cell manipulations paving the way for therapeutics.
