Abstract
Global warming is one of the serious problems in the present time. The main cause is greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide. To keep the temperature rise within 1.5°C by 2030, there is an urgent need to reduce environmental emissions. This chapter summarizes efforts to reduce environmental emissions using alternative fuels from edible, nonedible, and waste sources. It discusses the ecological impacts of bio-ethanol, biogas, and biodiesel from various sources, tire oil, synthetic gas, plastic waste oil, and biohydrogen. The results show that these alternative fuels help reduce carbon emissions and can be a good substitute for fossil fuels.
