Abstract

This chapter reviews frameworks and practices in experiential education across a range of disciplines. This review is designed to deepen understanding of how clinical legal education works. The chapter considers how clinical pedagogy aligns with Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle, setting out the way that the four stages of the Experiential Learning Cycle work in clinical legal contexts. We give particular attention to the scholarship about experiential education in health and other professional disciplines where the places and purposes of learning by doing and reflecting are clearer and more comprehensive.
