Abstract

When it comes to the design of public buildings, wayfinding and user orientation are certainly not among the most pressing topics. Regarding architectural design cognition, by contrast, user navigation and wayfinding establishes a productive account by highlighting two distinct perspectives on the matter of (public) buildings: architects and building users. The paper compares approaches of five case studies that all introduce the vistors’ perspective into architectural design processes.
