Abstract

Space exploration presents new and extraordinary opportunities for extracting minerals, as celestial bodies contain vast reserves of valuable and rare elements. As humanity stands on the brink of this new frontier, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology offers innovative solutions to the complex challenges of space mining. This chapter examines how the combination of AI and blockchain can enhance operational efficiency, ensure secure and transparent data management, and foster international collaboration in space ventures. AI can significantly improve the accuracy and speed of mineral detection and extraction through advanced analytics and automation. Meanwhile, blockchain’s decentralised ledger provides reliable tools for tracking transactions, ensuring accountability, and supporting equitable distribution of space resources. Entering this uncharted territory demands a robust and integrated technological framework to ensure that space mining is conducted sustainably and ethically.
