    Abstract

This chapter outlines several areas that are still to be investigated for understanding the surface processes of Triton and Pluto, such as the latitudinal distribution of volatile and non-volatile ices on Triton, the inventory of minor species, including CO, HCN, C2H6 and other CH4 by-products on both surfaces, the atmospheric evolution of Pluto, and finally their status as ocean worlds.
