Abstract

Have we as a university ever stopped to reflect whether the information provided to the international community of students have the expected impact? We all are aware of the ground braking efforts university makes to ensure inducting its international community of students into Northumbria University. Through communication of information the students might need to help them settle in, find out more about the university and become familiar with the campus. Additionally, through student support and wellbeing the university tries to help students get most from the Northumbria Higher Education experience by offering wide range of services. The presentation highlights the gap of communication between these efforts made by the university and the expectation of new international community of students. For this project two cohorts of students; September 2012 new intake and January 2012 semester 2 were involved in a 6-week culture exchange. Following which the students identified the gaps, solutions to close these communication gaps and provided ideas that could enhance student experience and establish Northumbria University as the best destination for International Student Experience. The presentation would share the learning’s identified by the project and seek to solve the issues identified through university wide collaborations.
