    Abstract

The last twenty years have seen a growing interest in Management and Organization Studies (MOS), including Critical Management Studies (CMS) in history and historical research. This has been especially the case since the so called “Historic Turn” in MOS that highlighted ongoing interest in history, and pre-figured specifically critical approaches to that endeavour. This entry explores: what is history; historical methods; continuity and change; genres of historical research in relation to MOS; critical debates in business and management history; and history and theory in MOS. The intersection of history and CMS/MOS is an increasingly vibrant, and varied, area of research.
