Abstract
Housing is a major component of most large regeneration projects. The planning system generally requires that a significant portion of new housing development is affordable and as a consequence, affordable housing is fundamental to urban regeneration. Its importance is not only physical but essential to improving the economic and social wellbeing of deprived areas. Given this, urban regeneration practitioners need to understand the current state of the housing market.
