Abstract

The basic problem of the construction industries lies on high rate of corrosion which results to structural failure and pitting evolution of mild steel. To this end, the study critically examined what corrosion rate entails and the various environmental factors that can influence corrosion irrespective of the material involved. It was established that the importance of the environmental variables cannot be overemphasized as it helps in the evaluation of the corrosion rate of that material. It was established from the literature that corrosion prediction models could help in understanding the type and corrosion rate in any media. Also, corrosion protection would not be possible for any material without the understanding of the variables involved.lastly,
