    Abstract

This chapter examines the impact of tourism activities on the career choices of young Cotu individuals in Vietnam. We employed the qualitative method by conducting semi-structured interviews with 15 respondents. The collected data were then analyzed using the intersectionality framework to gain a deeper understanding of the career choices of young Cotu individuals. The research findings reveal a nuanced interplay of positive impacts and challenges faced by young Cotu individuals engaged in tourism-related activities. One significant positive aspect is the encouragement for locals to pursue higher education and skill development. The interaction between economic opportunities and the preservation of cultural and environmental integrity is complex, highlighting the necessity for sustainable practices in tourism development. Recommendations for cultural sensitivity training, community engagement, regulatory safeguards, and environmental conservation initiatives are proposed to promote sustainable development in the Cotu region.
