Abstract
What sets a digitally mature museum apart is not simply its ability to respond to the adoption of new technology; rather, it is the possession of a digital literacy that is demonstrated through an organisation’s capacity to incorporate digital in a more integral way into both its strategic vision and its decision-making processes, and then in turn to enculturate these considerations through its working practices. Motivated by a perceived step change of sorts – which leads us from a preoccupation that has centred upon the digital towards a growing sense of the dataful dimension of contemporary culture – it is our hope that this book has succeeded in initiating a critical dialogue between museum digital transformation and design, and as a result, a trajectory for further investigation.
