Integrating Crowdsourcing and Digital Twin Technologies for Smart Service Design and Servicing Platform

    Abstract

    This chapter first clarifies that DT is one of the key enablers for smart servicing. Then, it describes the DT concept and its relationship with digital thread and digital shadow. Afterward, a four-layered DT framework for smart city is proposed. After that, it presents the service-oriented platform development supported by digital twin, including industrial requirements for a service-oriented platform and the development of the service-oriented hybrid DT and digital thread platform in terms of its conceptual model and the overall architecture, and the implementation of service provider coordination mechanism on the hybrid DT and digital thread platform. Finally, it evaluates the feasibility of coordinating service providers to deliver the requested service and the evolutionary updating of DTs around ‘maintenance as a service’ concept.
