Abstract

Peter Mettler is a Swiss-Canadian film director, cinematographer and live visualist. He is best known for his distinctive, intuitive approach to documentary, as shown in such films as Picture of Light, Gambling, Gods and LSD and The End of Time. He has also worked extensively as a cinematographer on films by high-profile directors such as Atom Egoyan and Bruce McDonald. He has also worked extensively as a live visualist collaborating with prominent artists such as Fred Frith, Jim O’Rourke and Biosphere. In this interview with Steve Gibson Peter discusses his image mixing technique, his work with TouchDesigner, his use of Live Visuals software in a feature film and his general approach to Live Visuals.
