    Abstract

This book investigates the role of women leaders at the United Nations and their contribution to global governance. It is a comprehensive analysis of leadership by women in the United Nations System, applying what is known about women's participation and representation in comparative politics and gender studies to international organizations within the United Nations System. It offers both a systematic analysis of leadership and representation by women, as well as a repository of historic information of individuals and their contribution to global governance and the development of the UN system.
