Abstract

Traditionally, the watchful eye of an experienced coach could examine the nuanced skill or performance of an athlete. Often, that may have involved many hours of careful observation, working closely with the athlete to understand their individuality. Understandably, this subjective approach limited a wider and standardised methodology to ensure equity of analysis across many athletes or teams. Accordingly, the influence of technologies to overcome the subjective approach became paramount, as well as a mechanism to provide greater insight to enhance previous athletic analysis.
