Irish Arts Review: Class of 2015 - Laura McClorey - A Carved Landscape

Research output: Non-textual formExhibition

Abstract

The brief for my final undergraduate project was to design a stonemason works in a disused quarry in coastal Glenarm, Co. Antrim. The approach taken was to carve my building into the terrain as both the site and programme related to the carving of stone. This was a sensitive response to the landscape, with a contemporary material palette of steel and concrete that echoed the site's industrial past.
