Abstract
This paper presents a case study of a live project embedded within architectural education at Northumbria University. Working with Newcastle City Council through the Creative Central Newcastle initiative, students explored inclusive design methods and developed communication strategies for engaging with children. Design proposals were developed towards a public exhibition at the Farrell Centre, accompanied by school workshops where local school pupils shared their visions for the city. The project demonstrates how live projects can strengthen students’ communication and engagement skills while fostering inclusive approaches to urban design and civic participation in architectural education.
