Abstract

Loneliness and social isolation among elderly adults contribute to aging-related
diseases, necessitating personalized interventions. Despite various approaches—
social robots, group activities, serious games, and chatbots—adaptability to individual needs remains a challenge. This research introduces a smart flowerpot, integrating generative AI, digital twin, and reconfigurable design to create personalized interventions within a smart service ecosystem. Equipped with IoT sensors, the flowerpot detects user presence, interacts with the user digital twin, and adapts its responses through AI-generated efficacy intervention. Qualitative evaluations suggest the concept of smart flowerpot can enhance the user’s engagement and well-being,
offering a novel approach to elderly care.
