    Abstract

This was a song I produced and composed for Cash 4 Kids in Association with Metro Radio. It was a football song for England's World cup effort and it charted on the iTunes Chart - It went out under the name of Steve and Karens Dreamteam - Steve and Karen have the breakfast show on Metro Radio. This required a very different approach to recording and producing a single as my task was to first write a song and then manage to get around 40 + people to contribute parts to it - this ranged from a rapper to a 10 piece Steel band. This all had to be accomplished in 3 days - and we had a great time doing it. It had blanket airplay on Metro and would have charted even higher had England won a few games - but you can't have everything. My process for recording this was to record most of the instruments in my studio and then transfer everything to the multitrack at Blast Studios who were contributing the studio time for free (as was I) and get a kind of conveyer belt of people coming through to play various instruments and sing various lines. Everything was indeed completed on time and I believe we raised quite a bit of cash for a great cause. A very enjoyable if hectic experience which added another dimension to my producers role as it also became a project management and people management exercise which required a lot of very precise organisation in order to keep everything on schedule. I had to make sure that all participants completed their pieces in the shortest possible time in order to leave time for mixing which was done partly at Blast and partly at my own studio. A very enjoyable project.
