A must for operations management benchmarking research. Describes development and implementation of PROBE benchmarking tools. Reflects upon a decade of their deployment in support of organisational learning and change. Compares UK manufacturing sector ‘now’ and ‘then’, identifying improvements, ongoing weaknesses and how assessment tools can be further developed and applied.
