Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to provide the reader with an introduction to medicines management and the role of the paramedic.

After reading this chapter, the reader will:
- Understand the term 'medicines management' and the role of the paramedic.
- Be able to appraise the paramedic's role in managing medicines safely and effectively
- Acknowledge the role of regulatory and advisory bodies in the management and optimisation of medicines
- Be able to apply the principles of medicine optimisation
