Abstract

The background ambient light could highly affect the performance of indoor near infrared (NIR) optical camera communication (OCC) systems. In this paper, we investigated this effect by means of improving an OCC model and verifying results experimentally. Results show that an increase in the background light from 0 to 90 lux results in an approximately 8 dB decrease in the signal-to-noise ratio, which is considerably high.
