Abstract
This paper presents a method about modeling and system analysis of flexible Multi-Terminal DC (MTDC) grid. The objective is to study the dc voltage oscillations occurred under the dynamic situation. The oscillation directly affects the stability of the MTDC grid. In order to improve the stability of the MTDC grid, this paper addressed the oscillation in detail by modeling and analysis of the system. Energy storage components are considered in the dc grid. Influence of the inductance and the capacitance of dc grid is analyzed. Modeling and controller design of flexible MTDC system are presented. Then the oscillation mechanism and the MTDC grid stability is discussed. Proposed system is analyzed by means of simulation and experimentations. PSCAD/EMTDC is used to develop dynamic simulations and four-terminal 20kW experimental rig established to validate the effectiveness of proposed modeling and analysis method.
