Abstract

Looking into the future of dementia diagnosis we can envisage more sophisticated, rapid or scalable extensions of existing approaches. We can also look outside our traditional domains for emerging developments that have promise and potential for advancing our capacity to detect dementia at earlier stages. With that in mind this section briefly considers likely advances in current approaches plus the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Neurotechnologies. While AI has already started to make an impact in dementia diagnosis, neurotechnology for dementia is very much in its infancy. This allows for consideration of these emerging sectors in the political, ethical and social context that informs where and how we want these to develop.
