    Abstract

Twin animated large scale projection at two Late Shows venues in Newcastle and Gateshead; the Castle Keep, Newcastle and Gateshead Old Town Hall. The illuminated words appeared that evening, linking the two sides of the river and bringing the two aforementioned venues together. ‘On the Blink’ is an animated digital sign that ‘oscillates’ between the short phrases; ‘over here’ and ‘over there’. The phrases suggest geographical location and encourage the viewer to consider their position; what exactly is here or there? There are further associations to expectation and observation. The options ‘here’ and ‘there’ reflect topics of conversation common amongst visitors to festivals where acts take place simultaneously: ‘have you seen…?’; ‘where are you…’?; ‘Did you see…?’
