Abstract
Project management practices and integrated methods play a crucial role in allowing sustainable construction. In the developing world, where the construction industry is not mostly based on sustainable practices, such methods are not heeded much. The goal of this research is to see how project management practices and integrated methods can help the developing construction sector become more sustainable. Moreover, in order to understand the managerial and technical position of the existing construction industry, Organizational Innovation Performance (OIP) was chosen to understand its mediation role towards sustainable construction practices. A quantitative research approach was adopted where data was collected through a closed‐ended questionnaire from 208 construction professionals working in the Ghanaian construction industry. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques were used to establish the interrelationships among the project management practices, integrated approaches, organizational innovation performance, and sustainable construction constructs and to explain these constructs in terms of their common underlying dimensions. Findings from this study demonstrate that project management practices and integrated approaches are significantly related to sustainable construction success in terms of BIM, Digital Twin, LEED, and BREEAM. Furthermore, organizational innovative performance (OIP) positively mediates the effect of integrated approaches on sustainable construction. However, the role of project management practices towards sustainable construction was not impacted by the mediation of OIP. The study concluded by suggesting that future research in this area should expand beyond developing construction industries.
