Abstract
Within this article we give an overview of our job position which was introduced as a new role to Northumbria University in Newcastle just over two years ago. We form part of the Practice Learning Tutor Team which has now flourished into a strong team of seven where we all have a background of varying disciplines and experience. The role of Practice Learning Tutor (PLT) has enabled us to provide that stepping stone of support to student midwives, thus allowing us to reflect on our own experiences to be able to provide empathetic and realistic expectations of midwifery today. We share reflections of our experiences supporting learning across theory and practice.
