An overview of the eighth in the biennial series of Northumbria International Conferences on Performance Measurement in Libraries and Information Services, held from 17-20 August 2009 in Istituto degli Innocenti, Florence, Italy. These conference proceedings bring together the majority of the papers presented during the conference.
