N2 - This is a progress report for Phase One of a larger research project funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and in partnership with Fighting With Pride. The aim of the project is to examine the personal impact of the ban upon LGBT+ veterans. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 15 LGBT+ veterans. Following Thematic Analysis of the data, researchers identified seven overarching themes: LGBT+ Identity Struggle; Camouflage; Intense Investigative Process; Extraction, Exclusion, and Loss; Access to Support; Long-Term Impact of Serving During the Ban; Making Amends. Phase Two of this study is now in development.
