Abstract
Pulse time modulation (PTM) techniques offer attractive performance trade-offs for the transmission of analogue data over optical fibre networks. In particular, pulse width modulation (PWM) emerges as a bandwidth-efficient technique capable of supporting multiple video channels inexpensively. Recent theoretical developments relating specifically to the transmission of video signals of PWM are discussed in this paper along with a range of practical results and measurements.
