Abstract
The intramolecular Diels-Alder furan (IMDAF) cycloaddition reaction is a versatile pericyclic
reaction for the regio- and stereoselective synthesis of 6-membered carbocyclic and heterocyclic rings. In
this chapter, recent applications of this reaction in organic synthesis are reviewed, with a particular
emphasis on its utility as a key step in the total synthesis of complex natural products
