Abstract
Reports two cases on lease renewal applications under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 which have been opposed by landlords: Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd v Medley Assets Ltd (CC) on the meaning of "the holding" for the purposes of opposition ground s.30(1)(f) on the landlord's intention to redevelop the premises and the quality of expert evidence required; and Gill v Lees News Ltd (CA) which gave guidance on the tenant default grounds set out in s.30(1)(a), (b) and (c).
