Stephen Gibson, Yan Breuleux

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Chapter › peer-review

Abstract

This chapter gives an overview of this book on Audio-Visualism. The volume covers the broad trajectory of Audio-Visualist work in the 21st Century, concentrating on work that situates itself with a wider trend of post-conceptualism, defies boundaries and engages with new audio-visual technologies, systems, socio-political approaches, and aesthetics in order to drive critical engagement. The recent proliferation of practices related to new technological tools—point clouds, procedural and generative A/V, AI-mediated content, game engine environments, and telepresence, along the extended reality (XR) continuum—has launched creative technologists into a brave new world of technological Audio-Visualism, enabling new forms of co-creation, collaboration, and exchange.
