Abstract

This chapter covers why good research design is critical to ensuring that data collected can answer the research question effectively and with research integrity. The different research designs and associated methods commonly used in health psychology are described and discussed in relation to important methodological decisions. Examples of mixed methods studies in health psychology are given, illustrating how quantitative and qualitative research can be combined to provide a richer and more nuanced answer to research questions. Recommendations for good practice in research design are provided
