Abstract

Chapter 4 provided a detailed description of both the research approach and the methods employed in this study in addition to a justification of their selection. This chapter 5 presents the results of the study. First, an outline of the informants included in the study and an overview of the statistical techniques employed in the data analyses are given. The chapter continues with the analyses of the data collected in the verbal-guise section of the study. It then outlines the results of the main effects and interaction effects of the various independent variables on the speaker evaluations. The chapter also presents the outcomes of the analyses of the data collected in the dialect recognition section of the research instrument. For each stage of the analyses, some preliminary, highly general comments on the findings are offered.
