Abstract
This article discusses the experience of the Newcastle Diabetes Service in trying to smooth the transition from paediatric to adult diabetes services through the provision of a joint transition clinic, followed by a young adult clinic. The impact of the young adult clinic on attendance rates and outcomes is examined.
