Abstract
Taking place across two days, Take a Pew was a durational improvised movement-based performance exploring sitting affordances located within Hexham Abbey. Practice research methods included contemplative embodied awareness, attention and original response to the site as well as playful exploration beyond normalised modes of being in a church. Created and performed by Liz Pavey with participation by Paula Turner and members of Grand Gestures Dance Collective. The performance was part of Neon Arts' event Inhabit: Performance Art Project Week.
