Abstract
Technology has changed the way we participate, consume, and manage sport. Sport organizations from the commercial, nonprofit, and public sectors across numerous contexts (e.g., business, facilities, gameday operations, on-field performance, or event experience), reaching a wide variety of end users (e.g., managers, groundskeepers, gameday volunteers, coaches, athletes, or fans), must prioritize the development of a systematic approach to evaluate, adopt, and implement future technology. Despite the countless examples of technology usage across all segments of the sport industry, many obstacles remain prevalent at the various stages of evaluation, adoption, diffusion, and effective long-term use. The entry briefly describes Rogers' Diffusion of Innovation Theory and Davis' Technology Acceptance Model, highlighting the need for further investigation into the factors influencing sports technology adoption, and wraps up with a series of recommendations intended for industry professionals.
