Abstract

This article is based on a substantial and unique research project, reported in full in French, S., Swain, J. et al. (eds) (2006) Visually Impaired People's Oral History of Education: Telling Stories for Inclusive Futures, Edwin Mellen Press. This project documented for the first time an oral history of the education of people with visual impairments. The paper analysed the contribution of the project within the development of disability studies and the disabled people’s movement. The book and paper were disseminated in presentations at three international conferences.
