Abstract
The design of a prototype single-station simulator for testing first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) prostheses is presented. In the simulator, the implant experienced 45° flexion through to 45° extension at a rate of 260 repetitions per minute. It is observed that the MTP joints depends upon the availability of clinically proven prostheses. The test prosthesis was held within two polymeric holders, representing the first metatarsal and the proximal phalanx.
