    Abstract

The indirect exchange of uncertain value is a project developed by Collective with Joanne Tatham & Tom O'Sullivan with new commissions by the artists and Elizabeth Price and Chris Evans. Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan have a dialectical approach to making art; producing absurd or contradictory interventions as a means of considering or examining a situation. The indirect exchange of uncertain value continues this approach by siting artworks ‘against context’ at Fettes College. The project has been developed through a discussion about the nature of public and private space within Edinburgh, and the instrumentalisation of art within the public sphere.
